Brett Axel is a poet, Unitarian Universalist, a peace activist and a poetry editor. He is a three time member of the Woodstock NY National Slam Team and a Two Time Woodstock Grand Slam Champion. December 17th, 2003 – Marianela Medrano
Marianela Medrano is a Dominican poet residing in Connecticut since 1990. She writes in Spanish but often offers bilingual readings at colleges, libraries, community centers and other venues in New York and Connecticut. Aside from her writing, she has been a Family Worker with Head Start in both New York and Connecticut, and is currently Resident Services Coordinator for 200 elderly, disabled, and low-income families in Danbury, CT. From 1998 to 2001, she was Site Coordinator for the Urban Artists Initiative Program in the City of Norwalk, CT, a program sponsored by the Connecticut Commission on the Arts and The Institute for Community Research. She is currently pursuing a masters degree in Counseling from Western Connecticut State University and certification as a poetry therapist from the National Association for Poetry Therapy. Her publishing credits include Oficio de Vivir/The Artof Living. December 10th, 2003 – Dolores Hayden
Dolores Hayden’s poetry is in the current issue of The Kenyon Review and has appeared in The Yale Review, Southwest Review, Michigan Quarterly Review, Crab Orchard Review, Witness, Poetry Northwest, and many other journals and anthologies. Her two chapbooks, Playing House and Line Dance, were published by Robert L Barth in 1998 and 2001. She’s received the Poetry Society of America’s The Writer/Emily Dickinson Award. She is also the author of several award-winning books about American landscapes, most recently, Building Suburbia: Green Fields and Urban Growth, published by Pantheon in fall 2003. She’s lives in Guilford and teaches in architecture and American studies at Yale. (host – Faith)
