Marianela Medrano is a Dominican poet residing in Connecticut since 1990. She writes in Spanish but often offers bilingual readings at colleges, libraries, community centers and other venues in New York and Connecticut. Aside from her writing, she has been a Family Worker with Head Start in both New York and Connecticut, and is currently Resident Services Coordinator for 200 elderly, disabled, and low-income families in Danbury, CT. From 1998 to 2001, she was Site Coordinator for the Urban Artists Initiative Program in the City of Norwalk, CT, a program sponsored by the Connecticut Commission on the Arts and The Institute for Community Research. She is currently pursuing a masters degree in Counseling from Western Connecticut State University and certification as a poetry therapist from the National Association for Poetry Therapy. Her publishing credits include Oficio de Vivir/The Artof Living.
