February 4th, 2004 – Ernie Blue
On October 16, 1995, something happened that contradicted over four hundred years of perpetual misconceptions regarding America’s most disenfranchised citizens. Who would believe over one million voices could come together spiritually and morally in peace to give praise to the Most High in harmony. That is what happened at the Million Man march. That is what Ernie Blue, recently retired twenty year veteran Corrections’ Officer, experienced that beautiful day. He will never be the same again. With the influence of Malcolm X, Martin Luther King and other African-American leaders, Ernie keeps his heritage and responsibility as an African-American male at the center of his work, covering decades of history in a single poem. (host – Faith)
