The first Wednesday of the new year is a WNPS field trip – which means we are not meeting at our usual location at Molten but are having a joint event with Western CT State University’s English department which will take place at Alumni Hall on the downtown campus of the college.
Following a 45 minute open mic starting at 7p.m., Cecilia Woloch and Carmen Palmer will read their work. Ms. Woloch (Cecilia Woloch.com) is a Writer in Residence in the M.F.A. program and author of several poetry titles, including “Tsigan,” “Late”and “Sacrifice.” She directs Summer Poetry in Idyllwild and the Paris Poetry Workshop. Ms. Palmer is a poet and graduate of WestConn’s M.F.A. program. She is poetry editor or the Miranda Literary Magazine and currently lives in Puerto Rico.
The event is part of the college’s annual winter literary festival. (Check out the link for other tasty events that week.) Come early – the open mic is just 45 minutes long and starts at 7PM sharp. Alumni Hall which is a little, white former-church building, and there is guest parking to had in a visitors lot off White Street in Danbury.
In regard to parking I found this on the University web: VISITOR PARKING ADVISORY: Western Connecticut State University offers several convenient, centrally located parking spaces for visitors…Midtown visitor parking is in the lot next to Old Main and in designated spaces next to University Hall. From 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. parking in the university’s White Street and Fifth Avenue garages is restricted to students, faculty and staff with hang-tags and/or parking stickers.
