Eli Cleary works in Corporate America by day and is a poet by night (or those odd moments when she isn’t working). Published recently in Boston Literary Magazine and Tipton Poetry Journal, she tends to her poems like her garden, nurturing a unique perspective on people and the events that influence their lives. She performs with the poetry troupe Shijin, manages the Poetry Institute’s website and is one of its bookings coordinators. She is founder of the Sleeping Giant Poets Guild in Hamden, Connecticut. Jasmine Dreame Wagner’s poems have appeared or are forthcoming in New American Writing, American Letters & Commentary, Verse, Blackbird, 
Colorado Review, Indiana Review, and other literary magazines. A graduate of Columbia University and the University of Montana, she has received grants and residencies from the Foundation for Contemporary Arts, Hall Farm Center for Arts & Education, and Kultuuritehas
 Polymer.

An interdisciplinary artist as well as a poet, Jasmine seeks to investigate “the hidden narratives of manmade landmarks: abandoned industrial areas, vacant lots, fences of wildlife refuges, decommissioned military structures, exurban space that has fallen into
 disuse.” Using a variety of mediums she explores “the shadowy pockets of the post-industrial landscape and the natural life that persists in the 
face of environmental degradation and decay“. Jasmine performs and records folk and experimental music as Cabinet of Natural Curiosities. Her third album, Blue Highways, willbe released by For Arbors / For Satellites in Summer of 2011. Cabinet
 has performed at the CMJ Music Marathon, the Olympia Experimental Music Festival, free103point9’s Wave Farm, and Missoula, Montana’s New
Lakes Poetry Reading Series.

April 6, 2011 – CT Youth Slam Team

April 6 – CT Youth Slam Team 2011

This will be the very first performance by the brand spankin’ new 2011 Connecticut Youth Slam Team! WooHoo!

The team selection finals are Saturday, April 2nd @ 2pm
 at The Russell Library, 123 Broad Street in Middletown, CT.  Yes you can attend the finals and help choose the team with your applause!  The young poets that perform here will  be the best young slammers in the state of Connecticut coached by Elizabeth Thomas of Upwordpoetry.com.  One thing we know – They will be Dynamic!!!

BECAUSE THIS IS A SCHOOL NIGHT – THE TEAM WILL PERFORM FIRST FOLLOWED BY OUR USUAL OPEN MYK/MIC/MIKE!!
