August 17th – Polly Brody
Polly Brody is the author of four books: OTHER NATIONS, THE BURNING BUSH, AT THE FLOWER’S LIP, and her latest, STIRRING SHADOWS. Her poetry has been published in over 40 literary reviews and journals including: THE SPOON RIVER POETRY REVIEW, ZONE 3, THE MIDWEST QUARTERLY, THE POTOMAC REVIEW, and the CONNECTICUT RIVER REVIEW.
She has twice received the Winchell Award from the Connecticut Poetry Society. Polly has placed first, second, and third in national writing competitions, most recently in 2006 in a competition sponsored by Friends of Acadia, and judged by Wesley McNair.
Polly also has created and taught seminars on animal behavior. She holds a Masters Degree in Biology and is a veteran field ornithologist. Many of her poems derive from her understanding of the natural world.and its creatures.
